this is not a bug...
but you should check perl 5.10.0 which add improvements for both smaller memory foot print and speed... if this is not already done...
I'm developping myself an ASP/ISP complete application written in perl... and I switched to perl 5.10.0 which make us win in performance/memory usage...
I'm not using activestate or similar perl compilation to obsucate the code... but another technic...
this is really something you must check for next astaro versions...
just feedbacks...
