[7.190] QOS & Bittorrent

Hi,

I tried to setup a QOS based on the Bittorrent traffic. And it doesn't limit the flow !!! Notice that AFC "see" the bittorrent flow ( it is shown in the im/P2P summarry)

You can see the QOS  settings in the following jpg, and the real speed of µTorrent in the last JPG...

Remarks:
- The source Pc isn't in the skiplist
- The controlled network is ITF_LAN Network
- bittorrent is allowed in the Pafket filter rules
- I use a policy based routing to chnage the flow from the default gateway (ITF_BIDON which point to nothing (TEST about policy routing ;-) ) to the second real internet access ITF_FREE

    I redo the same test using 7.191, and i've the same problem (no limit)...
    So it's allways open...

    Just another note : I try on an easy config ( limit newsgroup on 119/tcp) but it's the same : i can overcome the limit set is QOS...

    I'm not sure how you've setup and tested, but the default QOS settings allow traffic to exceed the limits, IF there is extra bandwidth not being used by other traffic.

    Many thanks for your input,

    I do the following test :

    Launch an FTP connection at 800Ko/s (6400Kbits) which saturate my download at full speed...
    and I activate in the QOS my newsgroup test which is set to min=110Kbits, max=1024Kbits

    And with this I have the following result :
    FTP slow down at 220Ko/s (1760Kbit...)
    and my newsreader go at 4200 Kbit, 4* the max I set...

    So even with an  easy config I can't use a QOS...

    Hi

    Now using V7.192, I've the same problem with QOS : the simple qos limit on newsgroup doesn't work, even if I allocate all the bandwidth with another transfer...

    Hi

    As I can see in the screenshot, you configured the QoS on your External interface (ITF_Free). The QoS rules which are configured here, just limit the bandwidth for your upload.
    If you want to limit the download bandwidth, you need to configure the QoS rule at the internal interface (ITF_LAN). You can switch them in the drop-down-menu at the top.

    At my machine the download bandwidth is limited, even with AFC enabled and Bittorrent set to 'Log'.

    Excuse me for the mistake : you are right : my qos was in the wrong interface...
    I correct the mistake and it work fine for my test using newsgroups !!!...

    But for the P2P using bittorrent it is not the same :
    I set the selector to 800Kbit ( 100Ko)...
    and i get more than 230Ko (1800Kbit) , and 280Ko (2240Kbit)
    So it's quite different...

    if I deactivate my selector I have quite same speed...
    So it's better but it's not 100% good...
