[7.180] import/update user data from ldap fails [FEATURE REQUEST]

I have enabled the ldap user database backend, and also enabled automatic user creation. This works, but only for creation of users. Unfortunately no further user details are imported from my ldap server.

(my ldap server obviously does contain user details, such as displayName, givenName and mail for all users)

Are these the ldap fields astaro is looking for..? (since this does work with various other applications, including importing user details)

    which method do you use
    - eDirectory
    - Active Directory
    - generic LDAP
    ?

    we only do the import of additional parameters for eDirectory and AD as the schema is fixed there. 

    please also add the version you are using as a prefix into the Thread title, thx.

    Sorry, I'll update my other threads with version info as well: asg-7.180

    I'm using openldap, so generic ldap that would be. 

    I am surprised that you only support eDirectory and AD, because also for openldap, there seem to be rather common used standards... the mail field containing email address being the first that comes to mind... (and openldap is SO widely used, specially in open source environments...)

    It works here with many many applications that support ldap as their backend... (including importing full name, email from ldap) (usually the software specifies WHERE is expects these attributes) (or allows you to enter ldap fields yourself, as astaro does with the user attribute: uid/sn/cn pulldown)

    The problem here is, that if astaro doesn't import the mail attribute, basically the whole idea of having an end user portal is no longer relevant..

    Hi, 

    ok, let me check how big the effort is to
    a) add a special Authentication type "OpenLDAP" where these fields are prefilled, similar to eDir and AD.
    b) add these fields to the generic LDAP Authentication type and ignore them as now, if they are empty.
