[7.180] Memory Leak in IM/P2P engine [CONFIRMED]

I saw just about the same thing but then it went back down to were it was with 7.1 installed maybe a little higher.

After my post it suddendly decrease
but
later it re-start to growth...
and same process afcd...

i have the ram at 90% now and newer saw anything beyond 45% before

IN Linux using 90% or more of ram is normal.  Using swap is problematic though.  Astaro had a kernel misconfiguration that made the machine swap like mad.  Later in 7.1x series they reduced the entire memory usage not just swap..which to me is the opposite extreme.  I'm interested in how 7.2 is tuned and i'm going to dig into it once i get the beta installed..[:)]

Yes you are right linux allocate all the free memory as disk buffer etc, if no other process reclaim it...

But the problem here is very different : the process afcd growth minute by minute, allocate all ram and swap that he can and next he crash...

by now i will try to restart the box : but i can't log in the webadmin ( it stall at the connecting to back end...), so i will restart it but using the ssh console...

In this condition the firewall can become unavailable : even a simple DNAT an packet filtter rules doesn't work : everything is stall... and when the process is crash, it frees the memory and then I can use it !... (5 minute berfore i can do some test on ssh console and now I can't re-connect... )

See the last daily report... You can guess when I do the upgrade...

Yes it seems that under certain conditions the afcd process consumes to much RAM, i would like to find out under which conditions your system is operating. 
Means:
how many devices are in your LAN?
What kind if internet uplink do you have?
What is the average utilizied throughput through the asg?
Do you have IPS enabled and if yes, how many rules (take a look at the dashboard)?
Do you have IM/P2P Management enabled and if yes, which configuration is active?
Do you use the HTTP Proxy?

Would it be possible to get a tempoary login to your box so we can take a look at it?

After installing Version 7.180 RAM-Usage decreased from 83 % to 70 %. 

But WebAdmin is much slower, and the last main window needs more than one click on the new menu item before it changes.

It doesn´t matter, if you click on a menu on the sidebar or a submenu of the main window. 

The applying message after changing will not be shown immediately. First, I have to click on a new menu, then it will be displayed. 

By clicking on the information button, only the turning slash is visible. After choosing a other menu item, the information will be displayed shortly.

No more than 4 Pc + some other device it is a home test environnement link to our business network using SITE2SITE.

What kind if internet uplink do you have?
ADSL using French fai FREE.
it gave 8000 in download ans 1024 in upstream

Very low : it's just surf, and a test environement

Yes 5186

Do you have IM/P2P Management enabled and if yes, which configuration is active?
Yes it is active, no special config i just set to bloack all, and just allow bittorent + msn messenger

Do you use the HTTP Proxy?
Yes, no specific profile

The hardware is a P4 3Ghz / 1Go RAM / 250Go Drive / 3 Lan cards

For the login, it is ok : it's a test box : so no worry to use it !!!. how did we proceed ?

Hi there all, 

after some specific memory usage testing we ware able to reproduce the memory leak and we found it in the classification engine of our new afcd "Astaro Flow Classifier Daemon" program.

We will work the next days to fix this issue and will release an update which fixes this issue.

as we were able to reproduce the issue, i do not need a login for now, but thanks for the offer.

info 143 OSPF daemon (quagga) not running - restarted

: it tell that was the ospf daemon was restart : this daemon is down in my config... so it'is another small issue...
