why are we allowed to define multiple VLANs for same hardware with same VLAN tag ?

This is annoying... and on the console only the last one show up of course...

You need to check and forbid this...

This is what I have in kernel.log after adding eth0 two times to VID 42:

register_vlan_device: ALREADY had VLAN registered

Can you please send the output of the 'hwd' script via private mail (link below)? Please also send output of dmesg after you created the 2nd tag.
