7.086 Bogus addresses [NOTABUG]

I am seeing also now addresses showing up in my Active Ip addresses that either don't exist or that would never hit the internet. I have 5 addresses that have not even been handed out on dhcp or even statically assigned that show up. I also have a printer thet never hits the internet that is showing up. My wireless access point is also showing up. This was not in ver 7.011.

  • Do any of those devices point at the Astaro as a gateway? if so, and they send any traffic at all to it, it should count them.  I've found some 7.011 installations that did not have the licensing IP counters working at all, perhaps they've fixed that now, and that's why you're seeing the additional IPs.

  • The wireless access point and the printer would have no reason to hit the gateway. What is the cleanup time on addresses or is the only way to clean it up by rebooting. I don't understand the 5 addresses that would come from the dhcp that have not been handed out.
  • You didn't really answer my question... check and see if there is a gateway defined on the printer and / or the access point... if so, yes, they might, on their own, send ARP requests, etc. (printers are expecially bad about this) to the gateway... thus counting as a licensed IP.

I think the automatic cleanup time is 7 days.

  • Okay I will check that. They probably have default gateways. I didn't have to worry about that for previous firewall I was using.
  • Yeah, just remove the gateway settings on any device that doesn't need internet access... I'm sure your license count will then square itself away.  I would statically assign IP addresses to any device that doesn't need a gateway (printers, access points, etc.) so DHCP doesn't affect your licensing either.
