HTTP Proxy - "More Details" [NOTABUG]

When you get a blocked page message using v6.*** you could click on "more details" and the system would tell you exactly what profile was being used by that computer/user.

Is there any chance that this could be added back to v7?


And thanks for putting the white/blacklists and nested groups.  Spent a few days setting up v7 while school was closed.  Going to see what happens Monday morning.

    In V7, the proxy sees the "profiles" only with a reference string, it does not know about it's "name". That is why we currently don't have that feature. I put it on our "list of things to look at" [:)]

    When looking through the logs I see that it actually lists "profile_x" in the log entry.  Are the profiles numbered from 0 - *** , numbered in the order they were created, not the order they are applied?  At least then I could try to put the event to a profile.

    Yes, they are numbered in webadmin order, starting with 0 - disabled profiles in webadmin are not written to the proxy config, and therefore not counted.
    Note that the 'Global Profile' is always the last profile.

    Is the profile assigned a number when it is created, and it always has that number?

    or

    Is it assigned a number based on it's position in the profiles list

    or

    Is it assigned a number based on the number of "active" profiles ahead of it in the profiles list.

    I am having some issues, and am trying to figure out which profile is blocking / allowing access at any given time.  

    My old time definitions were imported fine from the v6 install, but they don't seem to work when applied to any http profiles. "Always" does seem to work fine.

    Only active profiles are counted at this point. So if you disable the first profile in the HTTP->HTTP Profiles the 2nd profile will profile_0. If reenable the first profile, it will be profile_0, and the 2nd profile will now be profile_1.

    Just one more layer of fun.  

    Since it is on the list of things to "look at",  if you find that you can't actually display the name of the profile being used, how about assigning each profile a unique identifier and displaying it in the log?  I have profiles that are turned off and on during the day by the lab monitors, and everytime they do it will change the number of the profile displayed in the log.  Something more permanent is needed to ensure the matching of the log entry to the actual profile it is refering to.
