Actually it is a feature not a bug - The 'Allow access for these URLs'  list is based on a substring match. So if you enter a single character like 'a' there,
it will match 'www.abc.de' as well and let it pass through.

If you want to whitelist exaxtly one domain, use '^http://www.example.com'

Please try a entry  "wave.com"  and test with "www.wave-computer.de".

Wave-computer.de never matches wave.com (normally).

Do you realy want to say us that this is a correct interpretation of site/URL-names?

I tested some more cases. If I understand you correct you said that the entries in the black/whitelist are not URLs (qualified domain names with dots) but regular expressions to search the browser adress for a match. Correct?

My problems with wave.com I explained above.

I thought, that an entry  www.spiegel.de only allows access to this spacific site.
But it also allows access to  www.heise.de/?www.spiegel.de  or to any other "bad" sites - not really good.

Now I tested some regular expressions and I found situations I don't understand. I think that there are errors in the implementation:

I defined in all cases a proxy profile with one whitelist filter with only one entry.

On a similar vein there was a post covering the blocking of absolute IP addresses, best I can determine that doesn't work.

http://([0-9]{1,3}\.){3}[0-9]{1,3}

https://([0-9]{1,3}\.){3}[0-9]{1,3}

I still see ip addresses rather than urls in my daily web reports.

Hi Ian,

I checked the first regexp (for the http-Adresses). It works fine, the addresses were blocked in all situations.

But I see every day IP-Adresses in my executive reports too. I think that sites like ICQ or youtube use them "internally". But I never see such Entries in the HTTP-Content Logs.

I think that different internal logs are used to generate the reports and there are difficulties to generate Names from the Account-logs (with IP-Numbers) ???

Hi Juergen,
I would have to agree with your summation on the http stuff. That would also explain why the PF log doesn't agree with the PF filter report (dropped packets).

new tests - a new detail:

www.heise.de matches the items hei?se.de and heii?se.de in the whitelist, that's OK.

But www.online-mädchen.de (which will be replaced by the browser with www.xn--online.mdchen-ifb.de) doesn't match an entry  online-mä?dchen.de

I think that the actual implementation has problems with umlauts in the regular expression.
I must use online-m[ä]?dchen.de
