[7.086] wrong total (volume) in Accounting

Yes according to my accounting my laptop has only downloaded 2.4MB of traffic today, but I downloaded several hundred MB from vmware.com and other sites in the last three hours alone!

My experience with the reports is after an upgrade you need to wait at least until after midnight of the upgrade because the stats seem to get confused with the changes.
This is the same problem I highlighted in v7.0xx and don't believe a fix has been issued.
Also the figures get confused between http and PF download counts.

Hi Ian,

you are right, the volumes are OK after midnight - even after a reboot.

We are living (in my office and at home) with different accounting problems / errors since nearly 6 years. Why shouln't we wait a little bit longer?

But it's not a feature :-)

Actually it's not getting confused; as long as the user session is active it is not being written to the database, until at midnight the recording is being "cut" when the reporter process is being restarted because of log file rotation. We're currently thinking about adding additional intervals to write sessions so you're able to see data sooner.

let me try and put it a different way. There is no accurate distinction between http traffic and PF traffic. I do most of my downloading from http sites except for a couple where I have to go and open a PF and this is occasionally, yet the download figures for my PC are larger through PF than http.

my problem was not that the data were updated to slow. The problem is that the volume information is wrong.

The wrong data from yesterday were not corrected at midnight - i checked the account data from yesterday. I see now the same result (approx. 406 KB instead of 280 MB).

Mine seem to be much better now. It is a bit confusing though,  when looking at the top services by client, and I enter my laptop ip address.

The report shows IN and OUT, and the OUT is much higher than the IN, which makes it look like I uploaded 1.9GB to NNTP, but in fact it was my IP downloaded that much.

I have downloaded some hundret MBs. At 3:00 AM the volume was OK. After reboot at approx. 9:00 AM the volume count was OK too.

there seems to be an offset in the accounting engine depending on the timezone. We are currently investigating it.
