Reporting-Network Usage-Accounting

V 7.086.

Looking at this report today I notice that the Firewall is the top Server on the list for the volume of traffic!

Perhaps I am being silly, but I would not expect the firewall to be counted on any of these statistics, because the all the traffic goes through the firewall it is bound to be the top 'server'.

What is required is details of all other devices that have communicated through the firewall. 

This is distorting the accounting.

    Hi Dave, 
    are you using the http proxy?
    If so, than every web request is actually two:
    - Browser -> Proxy
    - Proxy -> Server

    As the proxy always uses the external interface, it is valid traffic.

    Gert,

    It does now, but it does give a false idea of the amount of traffic a user may in fact be downloading. I am aiming to give this report to my managers, and this will simply confuse them.

    The Business is asking me "How is spending too much time on Facebook etc?", and "who is slowing down the internet link?. I was hoping to be able to use this report, but I will now have to re-key it into a spreadsheet and alter the values to make it more sensible for non-IT persons, removing the firewall and halving the traffic values.

    Sorry if I am looking at it from a business view, not an IT person's view.
