[7.080] intelligent caching not works correct [NOTABUG]

Hi,

I have tested the intelligent caching - without success.

I want to download Adobe Acrobat Reader 8.1 German to more than one PCs in my network.
I use a transparent proxy in all profiles configures with identical anti virus parameters (double scan, File size max. 50 MB).

I see that the file was downloaded to every PC separate and was scanned every time again.

Then I tested the situation on only one PC, to be sure that a possible error is not effected by different http profiles.

I downloaded (again on the first computer) the file:
http://ardownload.adobe.com/pub/adobe/reader/win/8.x/8.1/deu/AdbeRdr810_de_DE.exe

I used in every case the direct link and not the way through the adobe homepage.
The file was loaded and scanned (again).

Then I started the download again - new browser, direct link. The result was the same: new download, new scan.

The site adobe.com was configured in one of my HTTP-Extension:
skipping Extension blocking / URL Filter / Content Removal

So i disabled this extension (thanks for this feature) but the system reaction dosn't changed:
I startet the download (new browser window, direct link) twice one after the other. In both cases the file was downloaded and scanned fresh.

HTTP caching was enabled in HTTP - Advanced during the whole time.

I think that the new intelligent caching is buggy.

    Works here using the URL you posted.

    The problem may be that the PCs you use have different cookies set for the adobe.com domain (If the outgoing headers do not match exactly, the response content cannot be cached since it may potentially be different).

    To be sure, clear all cookies on two separate PCs, then use the URL directly on both PCs. The second download should have 'cached="1"' in the http.log.

    Hi Tom.

    To make it clear: the last four tests I have started on one (!) PC - not influenced by possible different settings.

    In all these cases I used IE7 - it is the default browser and I clicked  to the link.  I normally use firefox 2.
    And an additional information: in all the four last tests i don't downloaded the file to my PC, i closed the browser after downloading and scanning.

    I will try it again after deleting all cookies with IE7 and firefox under VISTA Ultimate this afternoon and send you my results.

    Please note that the proxy inserts the download *after* you finished downloading the file from the proxy. If you close the download after scanning but before downloading, it will not be inserted.

    This is wanted bahaviour and will not change. The normal behaviour is that you download the file, so that's not a problem at all.

    (Please not that Cookie still prevents caching, as Tom already pointed out)

    thank you for the information for my tests this afternoon.

    But: in my first three (or four) tests i finished the complete task with the download to the PC. 
    Svens: the Option "Ziel speichern unter" is correct to finish?

    I have tested the download situation. You are right, after a complete download session, it works.

    But I think that I found a new "error" (i don't open a new thread).

    My first action before the new tests was to clear the cache with WebAdmin / WebSecurity / HTTP / Advanced / Clear Cache.
    After "Apply" the ASG said that the cache was cleared.

    My first download test I startet on a PC in a browser equipment: here I have finally completed the download yesterday.

    But no new download / scan was started. The file was loaded direct from the firewall cache I have cleared just before??
    On those environments (PC, browser) the download was not finished yesterday, a new download / scan started.

    It is possible that the "clear cache" is without a function?

    Hi Juergen,

    the cache clearing is asynchronous and can take a while depending on the size of the cache. While the clearing is in progress you may still get objects from the cache. How soon after clicking the "clear cache" button did you start the download?

    Hi Tom,

    I think I have waited about 30 - 60 seconds on a nearly new installed system (nearly 2-3 GB traffic after last reinstall). I will test the situation this afternoon again after the HDD finished working. I will post my results here.

    Hi Tom.

    I have testet "all" possible conditions - the intelligent cache seems to work fine.

    Sorry, i think i have found the problem. It was not in but just before the PC. I forgot to clear the brower cache!

    -> NOTABUG !
