just wondering if v7 is cablable of doing layer 7 application level identification and filtering like the ipcop can with modules like layer7-Filter, Layer7 Protocol Blocker and qos_ng?
it would be nice to block certain applications (like p2p, messaging and streaming media) while leaving most of the ports open for legitamate applications. Using Layer7 would enable more effective blocking or qos on apps that dynamicaly change ports. i've even seen p2p setup to use ports 80 and 443 which would make it difficult to configure static port blocking for.
it would be nice to have possibly automatic qos rules that could be manually changed too. this would make qos much more powerful and flexible.
