Agreed, after the 915 disaster I would have expected a new beta by now, hopefully with some other fixes?

The worst part is when you submit what you think is a bug and you don't get any feedback.[:)][:S][:S]

Hi,
i have seen that the first resellers announce the final version of ASG V7 for January.
From the things we have seen in the past it seems sometimes that the marketing of ASTARO pushes releasedates.
So what do you think why you hear nothing from the ASTARO Crew - they code as they can to make everything work  ;-)

I guess the main developers will probably be on Christmas break.  I guess they are allowed some time off.

I am sure that a new patch will be released soon.  I must admit I don't believe this is ready for a January release, there are still too many bugs, I guess what concerns me more is the fact that with every update new bugs are added, I feel until they have sorted this part out I cannot put this in a production environment, as I will always be wondering if the next update will break it.

I agree, it's very unfortunate as this company has promise.  For home environments I'm fine with Astaro but until they can get their QA working I won't use it in a business environment. [:(]

I must clarify: I feel very comfortable using V6 in production, but I never push a new release out to production sites immediately and always wait at least 1 week before doing so while monitoring the forums for any issues.

V7 on the other hand seems to be miles away from a production release. I wouldn't even qualify the latest beta releases as an alpha release, there are way too many problems.

I think they need to start putting out quarterly licenses for it.  I am betting on a July production release.

July is to far away.  At longest it would be February I think.
I use v6 in a production environment and have never had an issue, you do need to test the up2dates on a test environment first.
I want to just say.  Version 7 is a fantastic leap forward, not sure of the packet filter layout, but that is a personnal preference.  They just need to add the complete set of features, like the better reporting they promised which I have not seen yet, they also just need to stop adding bugs into current technology and swearing blindly they haven't.

While I agree that July is way out, I am putting my bets there because the issue list is still big, releases have been slower lately and introduced more problems (and I dont think they have totally cleaned them up).  I agree that v7 has a LOT of promise and will be a solid product worthy of many awards, but I think it will take until July to see it.  Thats just my guess.

Price goes up January 22nd. This is what makes us think that is the release date. I know of no drop dead date.

Are you talking about V7 specifically? I've got Astaro appliances running in quite a few sites, using quite a bit of different configurations, and we've had very very few problems with it. 

We'll most likely put V7 into production just about as soon as it becomes available on an appliance because  a customer needs some of the stuff it delivers.

January 22nd is what we've been informed of us a release date. 

At some point, you have to give birth, call it a product, and see how it does. Personally, I've always believed that until you get out there and see how the thing does in the field (regardless of product), then you don't know anything.

the bug list seems way too big for a January release.  Maybe they have most of the bugs "fixed" and just are too afraid to present another beta release in fear of more bugs.  Maybe the approach is just to throw it out there and then release a gazillion hotfixes.

I do think it is a promising product, but I really dont think that January release would bring good PR.
