[6.908] General observations.

System appears a bit flaky.

Did a update from the last beta via automatic update.

My red interface is showing NEGATIVE traffic values at times.

CPU usage is very high. (CPU=AMD Dual Core 2800)
1 user connected

syslog-ng seems to be main culprit.

    As with Simon I too am seeing that CPU usage is very high.  The culprits in my case are the HTTP Proxy and IDS.
    I too have 1 user connected and normal CPU on a Duron 1.1 is around 2%
    If you turn on the HTTP proxy this goes up to 13%, then if you turn on the default IPS this goes up to 44%, Memory fairs a little better, but still it uses up to 40% of 768 Mb.

    I am also finding that the HTTP proxy very slow in use.  Take Google, without the HTTP proxy on a 10 Mbit connection it takes 2 seconds, with transparent proxy it takes 5 seconds.

    Other things I have noticed are mainly down to browser support.  I had to manually reboot the firewall to complete the update, it failed to reboot but updated ok.

    I am still having to use Firefox 2.0 if I want to view any reparts such as the Web reports.  IE7 fails to show you a list of reports especially in the web section, but also if you want to see any archive reporting.

    I will continue to 'play' and let you guys know of any more issues.

    CPU usage went to 100%, http proxy was the culprit. A reboot through a power off sequence fixed the problem. I think the proxy is faster than the previous version.

    Stats are strange, my ISP shows I have downloaded over 500mb since I installed 908, but the ASG only show 13.4mb through the external interface.
    SMTP messages (from the ASG) are quarantined, but you can't access them unless the smtp proxy is operational. I haven't received the original messages yet, some 14 hours after install.

    I left the system overnight, after first rebooting it via webmin.

    Initially load was very high.
    I left top running.

    This morning, the system is using a lot less CPU but memory usage is what I would consider very high.

    The hardware is actually:
    AMD Athlon 64 3500+
    1GB 800MHz DDR2
    80GB 8MB Cache 7200 RPM drive

    Memory usage this morning was at 65%

    I have no users using the system apart from myself for testing.

    TOP reported:
    (Top three items)
    confd.plx 38mins
    syslog-ng 15mins
    confd.plx 12mins

    I turned off HTTP proxy and IDS

    Running: (From dashboard)
    Firewall
    FTP
    SMTP
    POP3
    Antivirus
    Antispam
    Site2Site VPN

    But none of these should actually be doing anything other than idling.

    Memory use:53%

    For me at least, the latest beta seems a step backwards.

    PS: I am still seeing negative traffic figures in dashboard!?

    I am running on a P4 and have never seen CPU utilization this low.  I cant seem to get past 3%  I am running HTTP proxy in standard mode and double scanning.  Ram is at 64%.

    This rev is WAY better than last.  That last DNS bug was killing me.

    I do think I found one bug though.  I tried setting up a packet rule to allow outbound traffic on 3724 to external network and it didnt allow.  when i changed external network to say "any"... it worked.  this seems a bit odd.
