V7 hardware compatibility

For evaluation purposes, we have tried to install v7 with up2dates on a system based on the Intel 5000V "Blackburn" chipset with two Xeon "Dempsey" processors (i.e. Intel Core2-based).

The install fails to detect the NIC's and generates a variety of errors thereafter.  Upon investigation, we have determined that full kernel support did not appear for this chipset until 2.6.18.

Will v7 (final product or next beta) be based on 2.6.18?  Alternatively, is there a 2.6.18 or 2.6.19-tree Astaro development kernel we could test?

    Astaro may update the NIC driver (I assume it uses the e1000 driver in supported kernels?) which should get everything up and running, but you may want to send an email to v7beta@astaro.com to be sure since it's difficult to get an "official" Astaro response on the forums. In the past, I don't recall Astaro doing many major kernel updates.
