I have been a long time fan of the Astaro range, both at home and at work, but one feature I hoped would be included in V7 is still missing.
I can not get a very high speed connection DSL connection at work due to the distance from the exchange, and in the UK both ADSL and DSL are not as reliable as they could be. To get round this I have used third party 'load balancing' firewalls set to act as modems only (i.e. Netgear FVS124G, or a Cisco) in front of the Astaro.
These handles any freezes, or go slows on one line by automatically switching traffic to the second line, which may be a different ISP, as well as providing a way to get additional bandwidth in to the site.
Bearing in mind that the 'logic' would appear to be in the Astaro7 to handle balancing inbound to servers, why can this not be also provided outbound across several External connections?
This would be a very nice feature.
Come on Gurt, make an old man happy!
