IM/P2P Security

Its really nice that IM/P2P was included as a new part of the main menu.
Its seems usefull if you want to block all chat messages.
The only problem I see in this feature is that one cannot choose which hosts or networks are allowed or blocked. It has to be applied to all networks or none.
In most companies usually you have a some users that must have IM and others need to be blocked.

Is there a work around for this feature?
Is it going to be included in the final V7?

Yes you can do that using the IPS exceptions.

If you add those hosts, that should bypass the IM/P2P filtering, to the Network Security > IPS > Exceptions, Skip IPS, than those hosts will also skip IM/P2P, as we use the IPS engine to detect and block IM/P2P.

That is cool to know. Is there anyway you can add intructions to do that in the IM menu as it is not clear on how to do that

Ok Gert,

but in this way it skips also the other IPS rules..
It should be better to be able to skip only the IM/P2P rules.

Than consider also this situation: if I want that a user can do only Skype without ICQ, MSN, IRC and so on...How can I do?
If I choose to block all the messaging protocols except Skype and than I create an exception on IPS, will the user be able to use all the messaging protocols?
