[6.808] Dell PowerEdge 2850 doesn't boot without acpi=off

We've got a Dell PowerEdge 2850 single Xeon processor which does not boot unless we add acpi=off to the command line.

Changing vga=normal on the boot options lets us see this message (see attached): 

Total of 2 processors activated (11178.27 BogoMIPS)

ENABLING IO-APIC IRQs

..Timer: vector=0x31 apic1=0 pin1=2 apic2=-1 pin2=-1


Adding acpi=off to the grub command line gets it to boot OK, but hyperthreading is disabled. Manually disabling hyperthreading in the BIOS results in the same error.

    Can you give a more detailed hardware specs of your Dell 2850 ?
    How many CPU's, Nics, RAM etc.
    V7 Beta is compiled on a Dell 2850, so there should be no problems during the boot. 
    We have two Dell 2850 in our lab too, and v7beta installs fine and boot without problems. 
    We know the problem with the kernel parameter vga=normal and work on it.
