Raid Support for Areca ARC-1210 SATA controller

Astaro,

I tried a Areca ARC-1210 SATA Raid controller with V6 (5.800), and the 10K RPM Western digital SATA drives I setup for Mirroring are not recognized by Astaro. 
This is a "leading" edge card with a PCI-Express X8 bus connection, which our Dual Zeon Dell SC 1420 also has and would like to take advantage of.
Is there any way to have the drivers for Areca cards available in V6 of Astaro. I'd like to take full advantage of the performance available. When Areca went head to head against all the major raid controller cards in a recent and very thorough bench test, it was far better than the competition, including 3-Ware cards.
I already returned the card for a refund and am using a 3-ware raid controller without problem, but I would switch to the PCI-Express X8 bus based Areca card in a heartbeat if it could be made to work with Astaro!

    I think their general position is:
    If it's not in the standard (suse?) kernel, they're not interested.
    I don't know if that's going to change, but I wouldn't really expect it to. It's not Astaro's responsibility to support and test a bunch of non-standard Linux drivers.

    If it doesn't, you need to put pressure on the hardware vendors to make their drivers fully open-source, and submit them to Linus or Alan or whomever.
    This has already happened with a few RAID cards.
    Tell the vendors you will be forced to buy one of their competitor's products because theirs isn't FULLY supported in Linux.
