I use HTTP Proxy on port 8080. Many times the pages are loaded slowly or give a page error. When I choose to use a direct connection the pages are loaded fast. Some times I need t restart the HTTP Proxy to get it fast again. Does anybody got the same troubles???
I am not sure if I have the same problem, but it behaves similarlly. I run 5.816 now, and it is still there.
It seems to happen when I hit a link, and it fails for some reason. I notice when this happens, the activity light on my DSL MODEM goes nuts, but nobody is using it. Subsequent pages do load, but very slowly compared to prior to this happening. It is almost like it is stuck trying to get whatever failed. So far, restarting is the only way to clear it, that seems to stop the DSL activity. It has happened on both 5.800 and 5.816. I suppose I could restart the proxy, if someone would enlighten me as to how that can be done.

Maybe it's just a missconfiguration: Did you configure the DNS Proxy? If the DNS Proxy is disable and no forwarders are set, the HTTP Proxy uses slow Root DNS servers. This might lead to a very slow HTTP Proxy. So please make sure the DNS Proxy is enabled and a fast DNS forwarder is set.
