Changing IP and route in console mode

Before posting I did a searchin the archives  but I was unsuccessful.

I have tried to use ifconfig and route commands in console mode to change  (restore!) NICs configuration.
It seems to partially work, but such changes are not fully effective and after rebooting the previous settings turns into effect.
Any clue how to do that? (I use ASL v. 4.0xx.)

    The firewall takes its marching orders from scripts directed by the HTTP GUI; so it won't stop what it's doing because it 'sees' that you are entering commands on the console.

    Astaro was nice enough though to afford you a spot where you can hook in your commands and they will be executed with the last laugh; for instance, search on routes.local.
