Webamin is very slow (about 10sec for response time) on ASL 5. I was previously running ASL 4 on the same machine (PII 233 with 160Mo RAM) without any problem (about 1sec as response time). Any Idea ?
I have same hardware like you but i will not use v5 becuse you say it is to many bugs and verry slow webadmin. And it have no portscan detection any more. So i run v4 again
Jep - I quess we have to keep using ASL v4 instead of very slow ASL v5. After trying to upgrade from v4 to v5 system freezes and after clean installation the WebUI is extremely slow (hardware is more than sufficient). I'm deeply dissapointed with this new v5 release. Mayby Cisco's PIX could be next solution...... if and when it seems that the ASL is totally lost with their performance.
Guys, just give it some time....I'm sure these issues will be taken care of and it will be just as solid as 4. No matter what way you slice it, their product has alot to offer and more importantly the community involvement is top notch. It is unfortunate that these problems exist, but sometimes that is what we get for jumping on the bleeding edge version, this is not so uncommon. Just my 2 nickels!
I have to agree. Webadmin on the new version is very slow, but at the same time, there seem to have been some speed improvements since the first 4.7xx betas.
I think the biggest mistake the Astaro development boys did, was to name their latest ISO image v5.000. That got everyone's expectations way up, resulting in many people being very verbal in their disappointment with the performance. That wouldn't have happened if the latest ISO release had been named, say, v4.800.
You are correct v5 webadmin is slower than v4.021. However we are still in RC development and anyone that installs it must relise that there almost certainly will be issues. I think its great as it allows all of us to post the faults that we find, so when the final version is released most of the bugs should be sorted. I guess my only grip is the licensing issues. How do you get the license to get Intrustion working?? As the previous poster said, hang in their and just report any bug you find. If you feel that the product is not ready for your needs yet downgrade. I see no reason to downgrade though just because the interface is slower. I feel like the odd-ball here. For me V5 is MUCH faster then V4. My system is a 1.4Ghz with 768MB RAM and for me 5 is much faster. Maybe I just got lucky [;)]
Funny tough that when you look at the reporting it will never reach more then 5%. But when you log in at the console and look with top you will see processes (spamd, confd, etc) that are using a lot (95%>). I wonder if those processes are'nt responsible for the (sometimes) slow interface....
