[4.720] Unable to run Up2Date from within VMWare..

Is your vmware allowed to traceroute to the up2date servers?
traceroute udp/33000-34000

we added an automatic detection to get the fastet up2date servers, 
we therefore use traceroute similiar UDP packets to determain, 
roundtrip time, hops and dropped packets.

If you block these packets, this routine might get screwed up, 
we will check this.

Found what I think might be the problem.

When I try to manually do a traceroute, this is what I get:

Isnt this weird......

I have enabled traceroute from the firewall, yet in the /var/log/iptbl.log, I can see my packets for traceroute being dropped. 

OK, had to create a rule to allow traffic from the external address to any to get traceroutes working.

But now, I have found out for some stupid reason my ISP blocks outbound traceroutes. They say it is because of worms, but I think that is a lame excuse.

Please Astaro, include a workaround for Up2Dates to come in without having to use traceroute! [:)] 

Blocking tracroute at the ISP level is rude.  Get them to remove it or move to a different ISP !
