Is ASL 5 good or bad?

In my opinion it is good. It includes quite some new features (specially those from our wish lists).
But because it is beta version I would not recoment using it in production enviroment, but for home and testing enviroment it is OK.

just be carefull with PPPoE module it is not reported to work yet.

Then I would recomend you to wait still a bit that main problems are solved and then you can give it a try.

On the other hand you can also install ASL5 to VMWare to get first impression.

I test it in vmware (under linux and windows) and it works great - static ethernet and DHCP. 
I can recommend this way of software testing...
  

The answer is that v5 is BETA, which meens buggy code. Good or bad hmmm. The final version will be very good for sure...
