Re: Beta version and http proxy

Hi

I've just installed the beta version of ASL, but when the proxy is enabled in transparent mode, with caching enabled and logging set to access log only, and no content filtering, i get the following error if I try and surf out:

ERROR
The requested URL could not be retrieved

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

While trying to retrieve the URL: /response.asp?MT=www.theregister.co.uk&srch=3&prov=&utf8 

The following error was encountered: 

Invalid URL 
Some aspect of the requested URL is incorrect. Possible problems: 

Missing or incorrect access protocol (should be `http://'' or similar) 
Missing hostname 
Illegal double-escape in the URL-Path 
Illegal character in hostname; underscores are not allowed 

This happens frequently, on sites such as google and astaro.org. I have the dns proxy on and configured with valid forwarders.

Plus the web-admin is sooooo slow on a toshiba Magnia SG20

Other than that, nice job [:)]

    Do you have more examples of URLs that don't work, if so please provide them for testing. The SG20 you use, does it have 128 MB or more?

    All URL's typed into internet explorer now come up with this error:

    While trying to retrieve the URL: / 

    The following error was encountered: 

    Invalid URL 

    For some reason, all it displays is the /, but when you hover your mouse over the / it reveals the URL you were trying to get to.

    Do you want me to post kernel/squid logs?

    I can't see anything out of place in them, but i'm no linux guru.

    I also have a problem with the ssh service. I have enabled it in the web admin, and allowed access to the internal network. I have also got a any > any allow rule in the packet filter, yet nothing seems to be running on port 22.

    Yes my SG20 only has 128MB of RAM in it, but reporting shows this with an average of 80MB, it is the CPU load that is currently sky high.
