wins server proxy to include in asl??

why not using DNS instead of WINS... 

i want to connect some win-pc's, located in building/network a) - with my samba server  which together with some more pc's in a second building (and a second subnet) via asl-vpn. 
i got it connected with the domain, but on login it say's: pdc not available.... ;(

the documentation of samba says, the included nmpd could act as a wins server, and also as proxy. can this just run on the asl-box???

it's working now.
after connecting the pc with samba server, machine-account was NOT set to active, but inactive ..... no wonder it doesn't offer login...

i got the vpn-connection,
told the pc to use the wins server on the other network directly.
works fine. [;)]

built a dnat rule to forward broadcasts to the samba-server. don't know if this has any effect, will try that later if it still works without that [;)]
