Is there a way to manually set the address used in the MAIL FROM: command when performing SMTP Recipient Verification? I've also given addition details on how this feature works in this thread.
My mail server is usually configured to deny incoming e-mails that do not contain a FROM address. When my mail server denies the e-mail based on the MAIL FROM: field, the incoming e-mail will get dropped by the Astaro SMTP Relay.
I assume this would be a config file hack, but this would be a really nice feature in a future Up2Date. Following are a few suggestions on values that the FROM address can be set to:
1) Use the administrator e-mail address configured in the firewall
2) Make this a configurable field in the setup of the SMTP proxy
or
3) Use the original e-mail address given to the SMTP proxy during mail delivery. Since MAIL FROM: is always given before RCPT TO:, and you cannot perform recipient verification until you see the RCPT TO: address, this shouldn't be a problem.
4) Give the administrator the choice of any of the above.
Thanks.
