Permissions of the "loginuser"

Is there any way i can adjust the permission of the loginuser?
I am kind off playing with astaro editing a few files like the pppoe reconnect file but i can't do this with my Winscp logged in as loginuser!

winscp is for copying files.... use putty(e.g.) to login with loginuser, then su - to root and edit the files with joe or vi directly...
