According to your HCL http://docs.astaro.org/HCL-3.3.txt the Adaptec OEM SCSI-Controller AIC-7896 is expected to work.
I do have this kind of controller (AIC-7896N) on a Intel DualPentium Board (L440GX+) running the latest BIOS (14.3 build 133) for the board an the latest for the controller (v2.57S3) itself. Attached is a IBM 9,1GB U2W-LVD drive.
Unfortunately ASL 3.380 will not install. I did not wrote down the message from the console but what I can tell is, that it does not work.
Maybe there is somebody else out there to confirm my cognitions.
