Hi people [:)]
I just ran into Astero while I was looking for something a little better than my current smoothwall (well... Not current anymore [;)] cards werent supported.
But looking around some in the modules directory I discovered that the module for for my old cards were there (3c509). So I tried to edit /etc/modules.conf to add the entry for my old cards.
Did a reboot, and what did ya know. Now I had eth1 and eth2 (hehe the code that shows what the cards are in webadmin doesn't excactly recognise them (unknown vendor / unknown chipset) but hey... they work)
So now I'm running PPPoE on an old 3c509-combo card. And its running like a dream.
Unfortunatly this requires that Astero is able to install, so you need atleast supported card in the machine at install time (I would definatly like to be able to install even if no netcards are found).
Hope this info can help someone else that doesn't want to throw away some perfectly good working NIC's [:)]
