ASL 3.380 still does not install

Hi,

the new beta still refuses to install on our dual athlon board (BUT with only _one_ Athlon XP installed!).

ASL 3.20 works without any problems, but I would like to update for the vlan option.

Board: Tyan Tiger MPX, S2466N-4M
1 x Athlon XP 1600+
1 GB RAM
3Ware IDE Raid (Mirror)
2 x Syskonnect SK 9821

While booting from CD, the system hangs just with the following message:

Freeing unused kernel memory: 72k freed
INIT: version 2.78 booting

This also appeared with 3.318.

Any ideas?

P.S.: Yes, I know, dual cpus are not supported. But you only get two 64Bit/66 MHz PCI slots with a dual board. And I only use one CPU.

    maybe a stupid question but have you
    tried to install your CD on another PC.

    If yes and it is working we have to possibilities
    first is to note down your board as 'reported to be 
    unsupported' or second (prefered) you send your
    hardware and we will check it! I think you still
    know my address ;-)

    Yes, of course. As I wrote before, I have tried it on another dual cpu machine (siemens primergy, dual xeon): ran smoothly (and did recognize the scsi cdrom this time - well done!).

    Well, I think in a few days you will find quite a large packet in your ...err mailbox.   [:)]s offer!

    Hi. Been a long time since I was here..

    Well, tried to upgrade my fw with 3.380 and it installed fine. But...

    After a reboot it simply stopped at 

    Freeing unused kernel memory: 76k freed

    After an hour or so of retrying with different RAM and even another HD, I went back to 3.041 witch simply installed and was happy as can bee   [;)]  ..

    My machine is a AMD K6-2 450 with 128 Mb RAM and a 6 GB Western Digital.

    Please advise off the next release

    Ohh.. forgot.. When rebooting the 3.041 I get a 

    Freeing unused kernel memory: 176k freed

    and it goes on..

    Might be something.

    Personaly I think it is something with the CPU.  [:(]
