Downloading Beta 3

Ok, not sure whats going on here but the Australian mirror of the download site claims the size of the iso.gz is 70.1Mb yet the first time I tried to download it I cancelled it at 115Mb.

The second time I decided to let it go, after all, its just money being wasted on bandwidth isnt it  [;)]dth???

Anyway, enough bitching from me, lets get on with seeing what this beast can actually do.

    That is a client configuration issue.  The client you are to dnlding the image is either telling telling the server to decompress the image on the fly or your client is doing so itself.

    Most recent ftp/web servers are capable, if configured to do so, of either un(bzip/gz/zip)ing or (bzip/gz/zip)ing files on the fly upon request of the client.  Usually by requesting the file and either adding or removing the appropriate compression extension.  Many client apps, some with plug-in extensions others with out, are also capable of compressing or de-compressing files on the fly as the come down the pipe.

    I see this all the time on client workstations, especially after someone installs certain IE zip file plug-ins.  But I've also occasionally done this to myself via leaving the gz extension off when getting a file via ftp.
