Port 53 is dns, and *.root-servers.net are the root dns.

You probably did not set an dns to forward queries to, thus using root servers.

that makes sense to me ;-)
i gave the machines:
1.nameserver: inner nic of asl (= gateway)
2.nameserver: universities dns

aslbox dns activated, university dns given.
maybe it's denied from university dns because it doesn't know 192.168.1.250 (of course) ?

when i do nslookup on solarisbox i get such kind of message.

which asl-box ip is to use for dns-entry?
