I was going to install 3.05 on a test box which preveously ran all the prevoius V3 BETAS and 2.23 without an issue. The install goes fine untill the end, The installation of open source software fails and the instalation hangs. Platform is PIII 1 Ghz 1GB RAM 20GB HDD Intel 82558 NICS. Any Ideas?????
My system had 1024MB of RAM in it in the form of 2 512MB DIMMS. I removed one DIMM, and the product installed. Once installed, I reinstalled the RAM and it runs fine. Strange error, but I have seen problems with installing Linux before with large amounts of RAM. Knock on wood, but it has been running smooth for a couple of days now.
Hello, i have the same problem: "Loading ramdisk......." followed by a reboot. I‘have tested booting from the new ASL on 6 PCs.
PCs/CPUs tested: Dual 550MHz PII: failed 333MHz. Celeron: failed 450MHz. AMD K6: failed 200MHz. PPro: failed 1,6GHz. P4: OK 700MHz. PIII: OK 1GHz. PIII: OK
RAM tested: 1GHz. PIII / 64MB RAM: OK It’s not the RAM that matters, i think the problem is CPU speed lower than 600MHz! In that case i’d like to get a message like „CPU not supported!!“

It installed flawlessly on both my test hardware box (identical to our production astaro box) which is a 450Mhz PII W/128Meg, 8GigHDD, 32xCDrom. And to my console workstaion which is a 733Mhz PII w/256Meg, 10GigHDD, 8xDVD. Both boxes are stripped with only the on-board IDE enabled, both also have 2 Intel 10/100Pro PCI NIC's and 4meg ATI Rage IIc AGP video.
One thought, How small of HDD are you trying to use?
