asl beta 3.050 - dhcp

Try to setup this 3com-nic with the dos-tool to default-settings or try another pci-slot.
i had severe problems with these 3com-nics together with other brands.

I exchanged the 3com nic with a nother intel pro 100+, i reinstalled ASL but still i cant get it to work..

Any 1 in sweden that use ASL with BBB (BredBandsBolaget) that has a ASL comp running??

I'm wanna have ASL up and run! i like it... feels secure and kinda easy to config.

Next time i check it says that EXT is up but it havent got a ipaddy from my isp...

need help baad... have tryed to reinstall ASL at least 10 times now.. have no idea what do do now!

I don't know if I got the same problem like you but for me was an I/O conflict and editing the
BIOS I resolved this (forcing hardware ports on
IRQ input).
I hope this can help you.

i've changed the irq's but it dident matter...

cant get the EXTERNAL nic to get its ip...

and i get this mess in console:

INIT:ld "1" respawning to fast  isabled for 5 minutes
INIT:ld "2" respawning to fast  isabled for 5 minutes

and the console keeps echoing my ip(internal) all the time, ok?

Is some loop from any application on your machine?

I had the same problem (see some other thread) however a restart seemed to help. Seemed better when getting 3.051.. but then again its only been running for a few hours (and one restart)

I think its the dhcpclient thats restaring when it cant get the connection..

Last night i was disapointed and i installed another Linux Dist on it and its running fine.

Going to wait for ASL 3.x leaving beta. Then i'll give it a try again   [:)]

I realy wanted to have ASL, many of my friend have it and it runs fine.. But they dont have a isp that use dynamic ips.

Well i kinda solved the prob. I have installed ASL 2.x and dhcp client from http://docs.astaro.org/attic/dhcp. I got it running now.

I hope i can get 3.x to run later.

I too have experienced the same problems.  I am thinking it may be some strange hardware problem.  What CPU and chipset is your Astaro system running on?

i have the same problem, i´m running pentium mmx233 256mb, i tried different nics ie,rtl and 3com and i just cant get the external nic up´n running.
Ohh and the same config works like a charm with Clarkconnect and Smoothwall

Kinda weak comp, but i dont wanna spend alot of money on a dmz/firewall for personal use.

pretty irritating error. Anyone that have resolved this problem yet, from what i can se it aint related to nic´s, maby mobo or bios settings.

Hmm, All on Pentium class CPUs/MB.  Here is my theory...

I have been testing Astaro 3.050 strictly on Intel Pentium/MMX based chipset motherboards as that is all I have.  That looks like a common thread with all of us.  The chipsets in question are the Intel FX, VX, HX, and TX chipsets all for the Pentium and Pentium MMX CPUs.  I'm going to try and borrow a newer PIII/Intel 81x chipset system and see if things will magically work with that.

I just fired up Astaro on a Dell system with an Intel 810 chipset and a PIII-550.  DHCP worked first time.

Perhaps there is something in the DHCP code that is compiled only for the PII or better.  Either that or something in the Intel chipsets prior to the PII platform is causing the DHCP code problems.

i got it all up´n running with a ppro system, wierd stuff

I got a 233MMX/96mb ram computer that i dont use shall i try to install it on that instead??

Piling on: dhcpc in 3.05x won't work for me either using an AMD K-2 400 in an ASUS TX 97; so the TX chipset with something other than a Pentium is a problem also.  

When I installed 3.05x in a box with a PIII 800 on an Intel SE440BX-2, dhcpc worked fine.
