DNS entries over DHCP

Hi,

im using ASL 3.030 and configured my box as a DHCP Client to get all the stuff from my provider. Additionally i want to use the firewall as DNS Server for my internal network. Right now i can hardcode the DNS Server IP address in the WebAdmin Interface. Is there a way to get these entries over DHCP.

Hi Andy,

I wouldn't do too much with the ASL Router for other services. I don't know if it's possible with the DHCP from ASL, but generally it is. I prefer to set up an extra box to do my internal/DMZ DNS, the DHCP stuff to distribute routing, DNS, WINS or whatever entries.

Hi Chris,

i agree with your opinion, but there is a lot small companies, which want to have only one box or can only afford one box. There might also be technical issues, in my case i can only make an DHCP request with one MAC address, this of course is for the external interface of the ASL Box.

i use the DNS Proxy, but the DNS Servers for the Proxy have to be hardcoded.
