Monitoring Software

Can anyone recommend a good and comprehensive monitoring package that will help me monitor many Astaro Firewall Systems.
I would like to be notified of all of the problems with any system via e-mail and/or phone or a pager.

If there is not one tool, please recommend separate packages that might accomplish the same task.

    Hey, what about using remote syslog?

    Set every ASL to log to a central syslog server, then you can use whatever tool you can find to analyze and send alerts.

    Just a thought.

    Well, this is what I am doing now, but...  I have not yet seen a good write up of what exactly I should be logging?!  If logging everything, you get thousands e-mails a day with not necessarily a good and valid data for monitoring.  How do you decipher and configure syslog to monitor specifically ASL!!!

    I would like for it to tell me when there is a problem with the hardware, software, when a user is having a problem logging in using VPN, when someone is trying to hack in, BE PROACTIVE per say.

    Any ideas?
