PPP errors with PPOE

I have followed the PPOE instructions and came against this error, by the way I have static IPs with the DSL connection: 

Couldn't attach tty to PPP unit 0: Invalid argument
pppoe: read (asyncReadFromPPP): Input/output error

    additional messages, seems I'm missing a file in the pts directory, any solutions.
