Could someone tell me how I might go about adding ppp-2.4.1.tar.gzand the Roaring Pengiun rp-pppoe-3.2.tar.gz software to my ASL installation? Any ideas would be helpful.
Well, compiling a tar.gz package is not as hard as it seems, provided you have the necessary tools (i.e. compiler, linker header files) installed on the machine; The problem is that I think no one of the necessary tool is installed into ASL so I think this is the main problem there.
I read in other posts there are some "compatible" distributions you can use to compile things then copy the resulting executables into ASL, but I can't really recall the name. better you try with the search command of the BB.
Message to administrators: beside working hard to put out a DHCP/PPP/PPPoE solution in the up2date tool, I think there are many people out there willing to try such "hackings". Why don't release specs for a machine suitable for compiling and/or putting out an optional package to build programs into ASL itself?
Okay I was able to transfer files to the ASL box using SCP. Is there anyone out there that might be able to tell me how to compile and install the rp-pppoe files?
Well all, I went the easy way out. I purchased a Linksys DSL router w/pppoe built in for $99 that I put infront of my ASL Firewall. Now I am just having trouble with NET to NET config with another ASL but I'll work on it.
