Upon installing ASL 1.950, I entered a VALID email address.
However, after booting, the drive's going crazy.
Of course, I found qmail was going nuts and I killed it.
Looking at the queue, I found that ASL is trying INFINITELY to send me an email.
ASL is using a return address with domain = domain.de, which Sendmail on my mailserver rejects as it doesn't exist.
ASL didn't ask me during install what hostname to use, and with qmail going nuts, the webmin is horribly slow.
I now see why so many people have been complaining about weird qmail problems.
If a message can't be delivered for ANY reason, qmail/ASL should NOT try FOREVER with NO PAUSE to send it. AT LEAST it should wait so the system doesn't thrash and fill up the queue/spool/logs.
This could be a serious problem if the server for the admin email address is unreachable, not to mention the installation headaches it's been causing.
Recommendations:
Allow user to enter a hostname during install.
Fix QMail so it isn't so impatient/persistent.
Thank you,
Barry
