HTTPS Administration over VPN Tunnel

We're testing a VPN Setup using an ALS 1.8 and an 1.9. When administring the 1.9 box over the VPN tunnel from the 1.8-internal-network via webadmin, the https connection is reset every time a change is comitted (e.g. move/activate packet filer rules). Up to now, a reboot is required to re-establish any webadmin connection. SSH connections are still possible, however.
The reboot seems to work only using "touch /etc/wfe/conf/reboot".

Sounds like that whenever any of the files in /etc/wfe/conf are changed is when you are dropping out. A daemon is monitoring these files and changes settings if the files are changed.

Does taking down and bringing up VPN help things? Does WebAdmin work non-vpn when it locks up over the VPN? How does it fail - does it just sit there?

thanks for your reply.
Webadmin works fine from the local network, it only locks up if Webadmin is used over the VPN tunnel. Restarting the VPN tunnel does not help (the tunnel is working, e.g. with SSH, just Webadmin refuses to work over it).
