i downloaded the iso for 1.900 this weekend and burned a copy. i brought it to work on monday to try installing it on system i put together for testing astaro linux. i got it installed with with only one little problem, but when i try to configure it, it says that it can't verify the signature of the certificate for the secure webpage. i also noticed that it doesn't set the first partition as active. i had to do this manualy with slackware fdisk in order to get 1.900 to boot.
we know that to be a problem specific to the opera browser. It is already added on our Bug-List, but the problem might be outside our reference.
To your hdd problem, more detailed information would be of help. We need the following information: cd /proc/ide/ideX/hdX/ cat model settings
It would be very helpful to know the contents of /tmp/.install.log, too, but these informations might be too specific to post them here. If that's the case, please send us an email andreas.grosse@astaro.de with the information, it will be considered confidential.
i am trying to get all of this information but can't get putty to work for the ssh. i have also tried using a ext2 floppy but i get a incorrect major minor number error when i try to mount it. when i get a chance i am going to try installing redhat 7.1 and using that as a ssh client. any other ideas would be really helpful.
Hi chimney, you know that you have to enable ssh via webadmin to make successfull ssh connections on your ASL? To scp something from your ASL, you need to create a paketfilter rule ssh ssh allow
Another option would be to cat the information into a file and move that file into the htdocs-folder on your ASL, so you can access it via any browser with access to the webadmin [;)].

If the LILO was installed into MBR (as astaro installation does), it doesn't make a sense to mark any partition active (and it works, trust me [;)]ark procedure you used?
well i tried 1.920 and go the same results when installing regarding booting it. i again used the slackware boot disks to get it to boot. must be the cheap harddrives that my work buys for us to do testing on [:)]
