Astaro Command Center V3.0 Public Beta Overview

Greetings, welcome to the forum for the next release of our Astaro Command Center; the most efficient way to manage multiple ASG installations. This Beta will run for the next weeks, a GA date is still in planning. During this time, you can test out new, unreleased features early, and in exchange we'll ask for your feedback in order to polish things to a nice and shiny state. As with all of our recent Beta programs, we'll likely add a few things throughout the Beta as it progresses. For the best Beta experience, you should read this post in its entirety!

A word of caution:
This is a BETA and not final, production-ready software. This is a work-in-progress; there will be bugs, broken areas of functionality, and parts where things just do not work as expected or planned. While much of this release is stable, there will likely be unexpected side-effects when applied in various networks and sometimes things will just plain explode.

If you decide to use this someplace in production you do so at your own risk! If it causes things to go horribly wrong for you, well...don't say we didn't warn you. By offering you the chance to test the  product early you need to be  aware that you might have troubles with stability and feature completeness. Further, you shouldn't base possible purchase decisions on non-final software. At Astaro, we use Beta programs to discover and quash bugs  that we might not have otherwise discovered during our own testing, and  greatly appreciate your feedback and comments! Being a Beta, documentation and associated collateral's,  online-help, language translations, and other written support  information won't be available until GA.

Download the latest available Beta ISO image and install to your ACC software / virtual platform of choice. From there, you will receive Up2Date packages along the Beta track without the need to re-install. We will also make an Up2Date package available at the end of the Beta which will bring you off the Beta track to the GA version. There is no option to Up2date from the Stable track into the Beta; you must re-install to begin testing ACC V3.0! You may however restore your ACC V2.2 backup into ACC 3.0.

Please see the the latest "Beta Update Release" posting in this  forum for current download information for the Beta. Remember, this Beta  process is very important to us. We are here to help and assist your  testing!

    The main reason behind this release is the evolution of Astaro Command Center to the ASG V8 technology platform. Representing several months of work, this new base will allow us to further enhance the abilities of ACC with new features and better performance going forward.

    While much of the development time has been spent to update the ACC backend with the underlying architecture from ASG V8, we also have updated the frontend (GUI) with an updated look in the same style of our flagship UTM product. 

    No Astaro release would be complete without introducing new features and abilities, and you will find:

    1) On Demand (Forensic) Reporting - the reporting section can now be used to run aggregated reporting queries "as needed" across some/all installations for a desired period. In contrast to our existing aggregated reporting (which compiles almost instantly but has history and detail limitations), ODR can be used to run more detailed queries, which will take time to compile depending on the amount of installations and time period you desire as the information is fetched and presented.

    2) Central Backup Management - you can now save and work with backup files in ACC, providing not only a safe repository to store your backups, but letting you restore and make backups without logging into WebAdmin. Combined with the new capabilities of ASG 8.200 to remove installation-specific data from backups, admins can easily work with a cookie-cutter type backup which significantly eases implementation of new ASG's which have a shared "base" configuration.

    3) ACC also now supports notifications, alerting configured administrators of many possible events.
