[2.050][NOTABUG] Public IP for asg not updated in acc

Hi

I've an asg for which the public IP is provided by dhcp... and if I go in any place where I can see the Public IP (ie in gateway manager / maintenance / inventory and double click on my asg), it always show old IP, not the new one... and since the public IP did change several times... asg have rebooted several times and acc too...

    Hi BuBU,

    whew ... okay, the public IP of the connecting device is derived from its GeoIP lookup. This lookup is done only initially when there is no information available yet. Stuff is stored on the device within /etc/location.

    There is one legitimate way to get the IP updated:


    •  use the 'GeoIP' button when editing a device within Management >> Registration (proper way to do it, though lame!)

    And two hacky ones:


    • erase /etc/location on the device and restart the nextgen-agent (evil!)
    • make a backup of /etc/location, edit and change the IP, replace the original file with the backup (even more evil, but stylish!)

    I understand your expectation: the public IP derived from the GeoIP lookup should be updated when you receive a new address via DHCP. Current architecture and restrictions make this difficult and costly. We will look into this matter for a later release of AxG where we also want to revamp the whole GeoIP stuff.
