[2.050][SCHEDULED] adding global definition and changing value add things...

Hi

I've created a new global definition "Global 2a" which is a host 1.2.3.4, then I deployed it to an asg... which is working fine and used it into Local Network for IPS Global Settings....

then in acc I change the value to something else... the value is updated correctly on the asg, but the name had changed it's now "Global 2a [DSjY]" on the asg...

Is this correct ? what does this mean ?

    Hello,

    the adding of a random string is done on the ASG in case the name is already used, as it is not possible to have to objects with the same name.  

    This could happen when you have deployed it to the device, used it there, removed it from there. This will transform the global object into local ASG object. If you then redeploy without substitution you get a random string appended.

    Do you have an object on your ASG that has the name "Global 2a"? Is it a local or a global object (Can bee seen by the globe overlay on the top left)? 
    I tried the way you described but I was not able to reproduce the problem. Would be good to know what you did exactly to run into this problem.

    Oh indeed, I did things before, here is how to reproduce..

    1/ on acc gateway manager create an object you are sure it's not on the asg (ie: my new object)
    2/ deploy it to an asg
    3/ on asg, use that object ie into IPS local network
    4/ on acc, rename the object to something else (with a name that does not exists) (ie: my new object 2), on the asg if you go back to IPS local network u will see the new name..
    5/ on the acc, now change the address value to something else and save (no need to deply)
    6/ go back to asg IPS local network and you will see a new name with appended stuff..

    I expected the name not to change...

    Very nice, thanks for the exact guide on how to reproduce this issue - two points for you.

    This is an issue we need to fix in the ACC agent.
