Be nice to be able to upload an Astaro Security Gateway up2date to the ACC cache for distribution, especially now that they are being pre-released before automatic distribution.
generally you could help yourself by "injecting" the Up2Date via a wget download - but this won't work for the pre-released/soft-released packages on our FTP server. Even if the packages theoretically could make it into the cache, the Up2Date clients on your AxGs would never be able to retrieve them.
Reason: The Up2Date downloaders on your respective AxGs always query/authenticate against our Up2Date Server infrastructure - regardless of using an Up2Date Cache or another form of (caching) proxy. The Up2Date servers don't have any knowledge whatsoever of pre-released/soft-released packages, hence they will tell the downloader on the respective AxG that there isn't anything to download. So, having those packages idling around within the bowels of the Up2Date Cache on the ACC is basically useless.
That's the status quo. I agree that it would be a cool feature, but with the current Up2Date infrastructure and architecture, this is not possible.
Anyway, it would be a good thing to post feature requests here, so someone else besides product development becomes aware of good ideas:
