blocked file type executable will not blocked in compressed files

An .exe file sent per mail in a zip file was not blocked while blocking file type executable for mails.

The sophos AV scanner is capable of finding blocked file types inside of archives. I know for web downloads, as long as the zip file goes through sophos AV it will be blocked. I do not know if the email…

Is the email in question being virus scanned by the Sophos AV engine?
