Sophos Firewall: v19.0 EAP1: Feedback and experiences

Backup of SG/XG210 [19.0.0 EAP1-Build244) can't be uploaded to new XGS116 [19.0.0 EAP1-Build244]

I try to migrate my old SG/XG210 (migrated from SG210 UTM to XG210 several firmwares ago) to an new XGS116 appliance, but I'm unable to upload the backup of the (old) SG/XG210 to an new XGS116. Both boxes are running 19.0.0 EAP1-Build244. I get error message "Backup cannot be restored on current device" every time I try to upload the backup file to the new XGS116.

Any hint to get around this issue ?

You could use Import/Export.

I tried to export the config from the SG/XG to file (successful) and import it to the new XGS116 (unsuccessful). After about 60 mins of importing, it left the XGS116 almost unusable and bricked it almost. I was able to login again as admin, but am not allowed to access most parts of the GUI (access not allowed).

Then I tried several times to factory reset the XGS116 (https://support.sophos.com/support/s/article/KB-000043320?language=en_US) but it didn't work out, the bricked config is still alive on the XGS116.

Now I will try to reflash the XGS116 to get an clean appliance and the retry the export/import from the SG/XG210

I tried again, same result...importing the exported settings from an SG/XG210 bricks the XGS116 and renders it unusable (no access to several settings in GUI, for example users (not allowed as admin) and hangs (spinning wheel of death), if I try to access SD-WAN profiles.

Any hints, how to migrate from old SG/SG210 to an new XGS116 both running 19.0.0 EAP1-Build244 ?

You can use Central. Import the current configuration to Central Groups. Then push the XGS Appliance in the same group. It will not Sync everything, but most of it.
