How to refresh DNS on XG Firewall?

HI, good day. If i change the WAN Link, with another ISP, is there a way to refresh the dns? for example in Windows i could do something like ipconfig /flushdns or even renew the IP, but, in this Firewall, how could i do this without restart the device? thanks a lot.

  • This is what i have, and i cant choose DHCP, but i think this DNS should work but dont.

  • Are your computers having issues resolving DNS / websites or what is the issue? This tab only gives the firewall a DNS to use but not the computers. Try the Diagnostics page and try to ping google.com to test if these settings are correct. Also, you can set one of them to 8.8.8.8 which is a free google dns server and resolves all internet sites.

The DHCP tab there will let you create a dhcp scope so that your computers get IP addresses, and it is also on that tab that you configure which DNS servers the computers should use.

  • Hi,

is your WAN interface using PPPoE and if it is then you will not be able to select DHCP.

As advised in other posts you can use the XG as you LAN network DNS server by adding it to the DHCP LAN configuration or manually configuring it in each device.

  • yep the computers lost connection, ill try the diagnostic page but could be nice to know if there is an option to refresh the dns i think when i change the wan cable to anither isp the device lost conection maybe is not qorking too well with dhcp and get cached some information idk

  • The diagnostic page is only useful if you have something in mind to test for.. it's not a blanket test. I would first do a ping test to 8.8.8.8 and if that doesn't work, there's a bigger issue. Did you change your WAN port connection, such as the public static IP to the one the new ISP gave to you? Also make sure to do a backup before changes and also I take pictures before changes for easy reversal if I need to.
