Setting up AP55c with Radius (Windows Server 2016)

Hello,

I'm trying to setup a Radius server on windows server 2016 to be able to use WPA2 Enterprise and let users log on with their AD credentials, but I find the provided Sophos guides lacking of proper instructions.

I just installed the NPS role on server 2016 (this server is also the DC), and I'm trying to follow this guide: https://community.sophos.com/kb/en-us/122790 It begins by adding the Radius server, I assume this guide follows the correct order but I am unable to connect to the radius server (Note that I'm able to connect to AD server, I use this for SSL VPN), checked the windows firewall if if NPS is being blocked but this is not the case.

Tried to do the other steps first, but after all this I'm still not able to connect, In a other guide (https://community.sophos.com/kb/en-us/127328) I read I first need to register the NPS to the AD, why are all these guides so incomplete?

What would be the steps to follow if A. I just installed the NPS role and did not configure anything yet, and B I want my AP to have a wireless network to allow RADIUS authentication to users in a AD security group

The error I get when trying to connect is Device-RADIUS server connectivity test failed

I'm using the domain administrator account, tried domain\administrator, administrator, administrator@domain

  • I've tried a few different setups, none have worked. Using wireshark, I confirmed that the requests are making it to the windows server, but there's no logs of the connection anywhere. Doesn't seem like NPS is replying or doing anything.
